Aging can bring about many changes for older adults that aren’t always easy to accept, like being less active, slowing down, and needing help for certain things. While it may take some time to get used to, assisted living facilities, or retirement communities, offer a variety of personal care and health services that appeal to the specific needs of seniors. Celebrate Senior Living is a 501(c)3 nonprofit housing foundation committed to providing the senior community with a life that is celebrated, meaningful, and hassle-free while delivering professional skilled help and resources.

What Is Assisted Living?

Assisted living is a residential setting that offers personalized support and health care for older adults and the senior community. Assisted living facilities are a great housing option for individuals who want to live as independently as possible, but need some caregiver support with non-medical, activities of daily living (ADLs), like eating, bathing, maintaining hygiene, and using the restroom.

Assisted living facilities provide seniors with the opportunity to live in their own space while maintaining a community atmosphere with other older adults. Assisted living communities typically have common areas such as dining halls, libraries, gyms, pools, and walking paths that encourage and support social benefits.

What does an assisted living facility provide?

  1. Personalized Care in a Residential Setting – One of the main benefits of choosing an assisted living facility is the support that seniors receive with activities of daily living. Whether it’s help with eating, housekeeping, or bathing, assisted living facilities have trained staff members ready to help residents with their needs. Most communities also have 24-hour on-site staff in case of emergencies.
  2. Community – One of the most difficult things about aging is feeling isolated from others. Assisted living facilities allow seniors to safely engage in social activities and a healthy lifestyle. Residents have ample opportunities to meet and spend time with others without having to worry about transportation. They can make new friends, enjoy their hobbies with others, and feel a sense of belonging.
  • Nutritious Diet – Most assisted living communities provide dining plans that offer healthy, delicious meals that match the nutritional needs of senior citizens. In an assisted living community seniors can live maintenance-free and not worry about buying, cooking, and cleaning up food—which also provides more free time to enjoy themselves.
  • Entertainment – Most assisted living communities offer many different entertainment options, including sports like golf and tennis, outings to different shows and performances, and other group activities for seniors—like movie nights and art classes. This allows seniors to enjoy themselves and do things they might not have the chance to if still living by themselves.

At Celebrate Senior Living, we are committed to celebrating the moments, victories, and memories that will last a lifetime for our senior residents and their loved ones. We are a Midwest-based foundation that serves Illinois and Indiana with a variety of medical, social, and personal care services in comfortable residential environments, including independent and assisted living, memory care, rehabilitation, and skilled nursing options.

A friend of mine found Celebrate Senior Living for me after touring multiple Independent Living facilities. I eventually transitioned to Skilled Nursing here at Celebrate and I like that I didn't have to leave this community. I've been in skilled nursing for about 5 years now. Since I cannot walk, they have helped me with a lot. The nurses are great! They are truly wonderful! I am currently doing therapy 3 times a week and they are wonderful and nice to work with. I really enjoy the chef's salad and the best part is that you can order it for any meal. I've found my best friend here, Beth! We spend every afternoon together catching up in the parlor.

Visited this facility during their annual easter event and it was a great experience! We loved that the easter bunny made an appearance as well to take family photos! They even brought real bunnies and the kids were able to pet them. Super cute! Great place to have an Easter egg hunt, it was super spacious. The facility was nice and everyone there was super friendly ☺️

We had the pleasure of attending their annual Easter Egg Hunt and we had such a good time, despite the terrible weather! My kids definitely enjoyed hunting for eggs, especially the Golden ones. They had a variety of treats and hot drinks and everyone was so welcoming, from the residents to the staff. They also had an Easter Bunny so the little ones were able to get some pictures with the Easter Bunny. I highly recommend everyone to attend next year! Overall, we had a great time and looking forward to next year’s Easter Egg Hunt.

Therapy and rehab on my hip and back have been going great. The therapists I have are very knowledgeable and caring and although it will take me a few months for me to feel much better, the progress I’m making with them has been extremely helpful.

All the therapists in this facility have been very encouraging and supportive on my journey to assisted living. They opened a whole new world of possibilities, challenges, and goals which I thought I could never achieve, but I did and much more than I could ever expect. When I was learning to climb stairs, the therapist taught me techniques to do so, I trusted the therapist and said, "let's do it!" That's been my mantra ever since. Now, I can climb a while flight of stairs. Through the exercises, I'm getting stronger! Assisted living has become a reality for me only because of my therapist's hard work and faith in me. May God reward all of you for all you have done for me and continue to do for me.

The cooks and waiters are polite, patient and friendly. All staff, from directors to maintenances and cleaners is very professional, attentive and caring. I can confidently recommend this house for comfortable stay to every person.

So many people who work there show the utmost compassion and caring for my father who is a resident there - if I have questions they look to find the answers- if I have needs they look to fulfill them- I feel like it is family every time I go there -
